Game Title: League of Legends Publisher:
Riot Games
Year:
2009
ESRB Rating: Teen
Platform:
PC
Genre:
Massive Online Battle Arena
· Fun Factor:
It’s a fun easy
to play, hard to master game.
If you get
bored of one champ, there’s plenty of champions to play from.
You also have
something to work towards most of the time. You earn IP from playing matchmade
games which you use to buy more champions.
And if your too impatient, you can also use hard currency to buy them.
· Learning Curve: They have a
tutorial in the beginning, making it easy to learn. But with how complex the
game is with all the champions and variety of items, it can be difficult to
master. But even if you’re overwhelmed, there’s a free to play champion
rotation so you can try champions before you buy them and for the items, each
champion has a recommended items tab.
· Graphics: The default graphics
are fantasy themed. But sometimes during events in league, they sometimes
change it to theme with the event.
· Audio: Fantasy themed
that sometimes changes to fit the event of the week.
Controls: You use your mouse to move, attack and interact with menus like
the shop. And you use your keyboard for “hotkeys” or shortcuts, which are
mostly used for your champions abilities.
· Story: “League of Legends takes place in the fictional world of Runeterra. In
Runeterra, the champions of League of Legends are a collection of heroes and villains who have a
variety of backstories, often related to the political struggles of the various
countries of the main continent of Valoran. Additionally, some champions are
extraplanar and come from worlds other than Runeterra, but are visiting for
their own purposes. These champions sometimes clash with each other, roughly
reflected in the gameplay of League of Legends.” Is the summary provided on Wikipedia. Additionally,
each character has their own backstory and lore, adding a lot of depth into the
game.
· Characters: As of the latest patch, there’s
currently 138 released champions with their own unique personalities and
backstories. Some characters even have interactions with each other. For
example, Xayah and Rakan are lovers and have so many lines when they’re near
each other. Not only that, some of their abilities are stronger when with each
other, like Xayah’s W also gives Rakan attack speed and Rakan’s Dash has a
longer reach with Xayah. Needless to say, there is a lot of character
interaction.
· Game Design: The main game is a 5v5 PvP game
with 3 lanes; Top, Bot, and Mid with Jungles in between the lanes. What people usually
do in regular games is have 1 person, usually a fighter, go top, a person who
can poke well go mid, a ranged attack damage carry (ADC) character go bot with
a support that either keeps their ADC safe and/or creates opportunities for
their ADC, and finally the Jungler spends their time farming by clearing camps
that aren’t controlled by players to get stronger. Then they either try and
gank(“surprise the enemy” in laymen’s turn) the lane and try and help their
laner either get a kill, or scare of the enemy laner.
· Changes: None that I can
think of
· Recommendation: I highly recommend you play it,
since its free, you don’t have much to lose to try it, and its easy to play
with friends.
