Game Title: Plants Vs. Zombies Heroes
Publisher: Popcap
Year:
2016
ESRB Rating: Everyone
Platform:
Mobile
Genre: Collectable Card Game
· Fun Factor: It’s very fun, it has a variety of
different episodes/adventures to play, from collecting treasure in caves, to
fighting a boss rush with limited supply of health drops. The major mechanic in
this game is also a lot of fun, which are copy abilities that give you powerful
moves or are used to solve puzzles.
· Learning Curve: It starts you off with a tutorial on how
to play the game, and then you’re on your own. It doesn't need much more
explaining, since once it teaches you the mechanics, that’s all you need to
know because the cards all have explanations on them if you tap on them, even
in game if you tap on the minion, it says what it does.
· Graphics: The graphics are very cartoony and goofy.
Very kid friendly with a super hero theme to the game. All the cards and heroes
are very well animated from their lose/win animations to their surprised
animations (from seeing legendary card), most of them have very humorous
animations.
· Audio: The music is very super hero themed, and
really puts you in the heat of the battle. For example, the music gets more
intense the closer one side is to deaths. There’s not much other music other
than the battle music and menu music.
Controls: Controls are simple, just drag the card to the lane you want to
play the card
· Story: Dr. Zomboss has made a machine that turns
things into superheroes to power up his zombie minions, but misfired and hit
the plants as well, so now it’s an all-out battle between plant and zombie heroes.
When you unlock heroes, you even get a little of their backstory though comics.
· Characters: All the characters are unique and
fit their playstyle very well. Like Rustbolt is a hearty brainy class. Hearty
class is all about high health zombies and attack lowering tricks and minions
to outlast the opponent. Brainy is all about trying to get more resources
faster through the use of tricks that can give them more resources on that turn
and such. Rustbolt is kind of like a parody of iron man, he has a power suit, that’s
hearty and made because he’s brainy.
· Game Design: There’s a turn order, it goes like
this; Zombies play their minions, plants then play their minions and tricks,
and then zombies play their tricks, and then the fight phase. Both minions get
to attack in a lane if not affected by anything, so no one minion goes first,
like if they both have 1 attack and 1 health, they’ll both kill each other.
· Changes: I would like it to be easier for free to play players
· Recommendation: Even though its harder for free to
play players I still recommend the game since its loads of fun and there is
deck builders online with budget decks that can easily be obtained. You can
also farm the gems used to buy booster packs by watching ads and doing daily
and hero quests. There’s even daily events to get the event card of the week
where you can test their strategy decks so you can get a taste of legendries
sometimes. There is also a single player campaign and random battles to play if
you want to play on your own against AI.
